The Entrepreneurs Assembly Board of Directors was chosen for their exceptional experience and dedication to educating entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial businesses. Collectively they have founded over 20 startup businesses. They have started and are teaching entrepreneurial education programs at universities, college and community levels. They also organize and support business plan competitions.
Rod Hosilyk is a co-founder of the Entrepreneurs Assembly and a seasoned results-oriented marketing-driven executive with international experience in both large corporations and entrepreneurial ventures. Mr. Hosilyk recently spent a number of years promoting the creation of entrepreneurial ventures in Northern Nevada. He is the Executive Board Chairman of Access Pass & Design, a company that produces high quality specialty credentials for live events and is a leader in the emerging market of employing technology to significantly enhance the live event experience for attendees and promoters alike. Mr. Hosilyk is a lecturer on entrepreneurial venture development and marketing at Pepperdine University in the Graziadio School of Business Executive MBA Program, at San Diego University in their Executive MBA program, and at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) in their advanced studies group.
Karol Hines is the Executive Director of Entrepreneurs Assembly. Karol spent 5 years volunteering and supporting the development and growth of the entrepreneurial community in Northern Nevada. In addition to being a volunteer mentor with EA, she was board member of both NCET and Entrepreneurship Nevada; was the Director of Program Support at the Cube @ Midtown; curated the Reno/Tahoe Startup Digest; participated as a preliminary judge in several Sontag Business Plan competitions and as a final judge for the Governors Cup Business Plan competition. Karol’s professional career, spanning over thirty years in New York and Silicon Valley, included executive management and technical leadership positions in several startup companies. Most notable was 16 years (as first employee) in various leadership roles from VP, Software Products to EVP, Business Development with Ross Systems. Ross began as a professional services firm and pivoted twice to become a timesharing services, the precursor of the cloud, and SaaS company and finally a software product company delivering ERP solutions to Fortune 1000 companies. Other positions Karol has held during her career include: CEO, Karol Hines Consulting; CIO United Behavioral Healthcare; Project Executive, IBM; Project Executive, BASE Consulting (data analytics) and various System Analyst and Developer positions.
Doug Howe is a seasoned P&L executive with 30 years of experience in marketing, business development and general management leadership in both consumer and industrial companies. He has a strong track record of driving growth and profitability through strategic planning and change management in both pre-revenue startup ventures and growth divisions of Fortune 50 companies. He was a member of senior management teams in three pre-IPO start-ups prior to launching Emerson Management Solutions, a firm offering advisory services to independent businesses. Doug is a proponent of and a catalyst for change, exhibits a leadership style to empower and engage team members and to promote an entrepreneurial culture where associates are vested with the responsibility and accountability to generate, champion and implement new ideas. Doug earned his M.B.A. in Marketing from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, following seven years of service as a combat aviator in the United States Navy, during which he completed 185 combat missions and over 300 carrier landings. He received a B.A. in languages from Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio. Among his many outside activities, he was a member of the Practitioner Faculty at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management teaching several courses in the Entrepreneurship concentration. Most recently, Doug was elected to the Board of Entrepreneur’s Assembly, a non-profit corporation dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and facilitating business creation and growth in Northern Nevada.
Rod Jorgensen is the Director of Counseling for the Nevada Small Business Development Center (NSBDC), an outreach department for the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno. With well over 9,000 clients from Washoe County during the past 20 years, Rod has individually become one of the most valued resources for small business start-ups and expansions in our State. Rod provides one-on-one counseling to NSBDC clients which is the necessary assistance they need in operating their new or existing business in the most profitable manner possible. Rod is a certified NxLeveL for Entrepreneurs instructor and has taught this and other entrepreneurship courses for more than a decade in Nevada and California. He has provided endless presentations captivating audiences with his knowledge and expertise in small business development. He sits on multiple boards, including several business plan review boards.
Matt started his first entrepreneurial endeavor at age 10, starting a TV Guide route, garnering 150 customers in the first year of operations. At 21 he founded the New Year Ultimate Fest, a Frisbee tournament in Tempe, AZ, now in it’s 33rd year. The directors donate tourney proceeds to aid abused/neglected children every year.
His next successful venture was a design/build firm, started after dropping out of college at age 21 because he thought he knew everything. At 30, realizing that he did not know anything, he sold the successful company and went back to school, earning undergrads in computer science and international business, then pursued a Masters in marketing from City University in Seattle WA.
In 1994 Matt accepted the COO position for Dine-Rite software, an early internet restaurant play. Then in 1997, as a Microsoft Business Partner, he helped build the world’s first desktop anti-fraud software, developing the markets, channel strategies, & strategic alliances with the FBI, CIA, DOJ, DOD, State Farm Insurance.
He moved to Reno in 1999 to help launch an investor relations dotcom. In 2004 he acquired the US rights to a European design collection of executive gifts. The in 2005 he and a partner invented the first custom paperclip brand, which remains the leader in the space — www.LOGOpaperCLIPs.com.
Matt’s on 3 boards, founded and leads the vision for the Entrepreneurs Assembly (an entrepreneurial 501c3 non-profit he founded in 2009 — (www.EA-NV.org). He helped develop and instructs the Entrepreneurial Minor @ the University of Nevada, Reno, while creating business strategies, business plan mentoring and advising the UNR Entrepreneurs Club. He’s been a business plan writer since 1992, and a business plan judge since 2003.
Matt has tirelessly given back to charity and the community, recently being awarded the distinction as one of the Top 10 Community leaders for Reno-Tahoe, the 2014 Governor’s Cup Mentor of the Year, and the 2014 SBA Entrepreneurial Spirit Award for his work with the EA.
Brad has had a 45+ year career as a highly experienced and diversified leader skilled at building organizations, developing companywide best practices and standards resulting in consistent delivery of bottom line results. He is strong in analytics with the ability to define clearly thought out strategic and tactical plans for enhancing operational, merchandising, marketing, organizational, process management, loss prevention, scalable growth, brand development and customer service performances.
Brad’s experience includes 25 years with Woolworth/Footlocker in various store level, multi-store and market responsibilities across the country. His corporate positions included VP of Planning and Distribution and VP General Manager of a 130 store division based in Southern California.
Brad moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1997 to enjoy the mountain lifestyle and the ski industry. He was a VP of Retail/Rental for Heavenly Ski Resort, corporate VP of Retail/Rental for American Skiing Company, Regional Director for Specialty Sports Venture and ultimately VP of Operations, EHS, Risk Management for Vail Resorts Retail from 2010 through his retirement in 2015.
Since retirement he has been a business coach for the Tahoe Tactical Team, a consultant for the Tahoe Chamber of Commerce in developing local trade associations for restaurants and retailers and a consultant/coach for a select group of clients and startups. Brad joined Entrepreneurs Assembly in 2015 and was named Mentor of the Year for 2016.
DAVID CROASDELL, PHD
Dr. David T. Croasdell is the Charles and Ruth Hopping Professor of Entrepreneurship and Chair of the Information Systems department at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is also the Faculty Athletics Representative for the University. Dave teaches courses on data communications, current technologies, project management, global technology management and IS survey at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Dr. Croasdell’s research focuses on distributed knowledge systems, knowledge equity, and inquiring organizations. He serves as co-chair of the Knowledge Systems track at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences. He serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Knowledge Management (IJKM) and The Journal of Information Technology Case and Application Research (JITCAR). Prior to academia, Dr. Croasdell worked as a technical staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Kellen owns Send It Rising Internet Marketing and manages a team of over 20 internet marketing professionals. His book “Everybody’s Doing It | Advertising Redefined by SEO Expert Kellen Kautzman” was the #1 New Release on Amazon.com in the SEO category. He was the keynote speaker at Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas strip and has spoken at Roseman University and the Lance Tamashiro podcast. Kellen holds a master’s degree in education and taught for 5 years before transitioning into his career as an internet marketer.
Nancy is a full time instructor in the Division of Business at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). She is the faculty lead for the entrepreneurship program. In the spring of 2016 she was awarded full time teacher of the year by Phi Theta Kappa. Prior to teaching at TMCC she taught in the School of Business at University of Reno, Nevada (UNR) for 10 years. She has worked for various large corporations such as Hewlett-Packard, General Dynamics and Arthur Anderson. She holds a MBA degree from California Polytechnic State University and a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Purdue University in Industrial Management.
JOHN MORAN, PHD
John Moran is Chairman of the Board of Entrepreneurs Assembly and serves on the Executive Board of Entrepreneurship Nevada. As founder and principal of Global Gateways, Inc. John blended more than 35 years’ experience in industry as an executive, product developer and project manager and in academia as a course developer/instructor. He has achieved recognition as a bridge between the academic communities and industry. His courses reflect the real life business situations derived from his work in developing Information Technology Communities of Practice (CoP) with more than 38 Silicon Valley companies. He has been the co-founder of three startup businesses, one of which is a non-profit that has contributed almost $500,000 to scholarships for students in Information Systems.
We tragically lost John to a fatal heart attack while on vacation in November of 2017. His contributions to EA and the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem are enumerable and will have an effect far into the future. The EA Board will select a new Chair, but John, himself, is irreplaceable.
As a lifelong entrepreneur with extensive experience turning ideas and concepts into
profitable ventures, Jim's unique perspective comes from REAL WORLD training and
combines concept with implementation to create success for small business owners.

since 1975. He has been adjunct professor in intellectual property law and patent
law at Southwestern University Law School and advanced patent law at Loyola
University, both in Los Angeles. He is a frequent lecturer for Practicing Law
Institute and other organizations. He is a member of the American Intellectual
Property Law Association and was chairman of the Los Angeles Intellectual
Property Law Association.
Mr. Sheldon is a frequent author and was a columnist for the Los Angeles Daily
Journal on intellectual property law. He has been the author of the Federal Circuit
Yearbook: Patent Law Developments in the Federal Circuit (PLI). He is a past
chairman of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of California
and was identified by California Lawyer magazine as one of the top patent
lawyers in the state of California. Mr. Sheldon has been responsible for the
training of many patent practitioners and has been requested by many in-house
patent counsel to prepare and prosecute their more challenging patent
